To learn more, please click on the orange links for more information about each study:
1) Abilities Unlimited: We are examining changes in the brain and muscle during the course of motor skill learning (adapted bicycle training) in children with and without developmental disabilities.
2) Family Fitness: We are examining changes in fitness, body composition, and mental health in families following a 10-week physical activity/exercise program.
3) Adapted Gymnastics: We are measuring changes in motor coordination, cognitive function, and self-efficacy in children with and without physical disabilities (e.g., CP or spina bifida) following a 12-week adapted gymnastics program.
4) Youth Sport Concussion: We are examining the factors that influence youth athletes' risk for sport-related concussion and methods for prevention in this population. More info to come...
These studies will employ a variety of assessments (e.g., motor skill, fitness, cognitive tests) and/or different non-invasive techniques including brain/body imaging (e.g., EEG, EMG, brain/body MRI, or near infrared spectroscopy).
